Jibriel just graduated from the University of Arizona with honors in a Molecular and Cellular Biology B.S., a Biochemistry B.A., and a Chemistry B.A. He was selected for the Undergraduate Biology Research Program in the summer of 2017 where he began his research journey. He completed his honors thesis with Dr. Ronald Heimark at the University’s Cancer Center in the Department of Surgery focusing on prostate cancer. Specifically, his focus was on the androgen receptor and the proteins and molecules relevant to its cellular pathways. This research sheds light on prostate cancer’s mechanism of growth and resistance to treatments. Jibriel will be applying to medical school over the next year. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching soccer as well as hanging out with his cat, Taj.
