My name is Charlie Landa and I was born in California and raised in Phoenix. I will be graduating with a degree in natural resource with an emphasis in fisheries conservation and management along with a minor in marine science from the University of Arizona this May. After graduating, I will continue to work in Dr. Bogan’s research laboratory on microplastics in local streams at the University of Arizona while I look for an aquarist position in the AZA-accredited institutions. From being at the UofA, I have earned a total of six certificates which are Scuba Open Water Certification, CPR certification, Wildlife Techniques Workshop, Operant Conditioning and Behavior Management, Zoonotic Disease and Biosecurity, and Fundamentals of Animal Learning. I participated in the New England Aquarium internship as a marine mammal education and research intern, Marine Awareness Conservation Society club member, American Fisheries Wildlife Chapter member, STEM Cat Ambassador, Campus Outreach Coordinator, and being involved in the Design Thinking Challenge through the University of Arizona. I have been involved in three outreach programs which are the New England Aquarium in Boston, Marine Discovery and Earth Science Programs at Flandreau Planetarium at the University of Arizona. In my free time, I do research on aquariums, do outdoor activities such as hiking and camping around Arizona, and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
